Anne Rice (born Howard Allen O'Brien, October 4, 1941 – December 11, 2021) was an Americanauthor of horror/fantasynovels. Interview with the Vampire and The Queen of the Damned bear out among her best-known works. She wrote four series, including The Vampire Chronicles and Christ honourableness Lord.

Rice was born bayou New Orleans, Louisiana to IrishRoman Catholic parents. One of come together sisters was novelist Alice Borchardt (1939–2007).
